About

Suds & Stitches is born out of a dream, a desire to be a mentor to women in the ways of Proverbs 31. The dream began before I was married and has grown and developed in my 35 years of marriage, 33 years of motherhood, and 28 years of homeschooling. It traveled with me as I moved halfway around the world a couple times with my airman husband.

My mother taught me the basics of sewing when I was about 8 or 9 years old. It wasn’t long before I sewed clothes for myself and my sisters. I took Home Ec in Highschool for an easy A on the report card! I was eventually asked to teach sewing at a homeschool co-op, where I taught for 18 years. There I developed the curriculum that I currently use in our sewing lessons.

While studying Early American History, my daughter and I made lye soap. She loved the process and wanted to learn more. We bought supplies for her birthday, and she loved having homemade soap to use and gift. We studied soapmaking and eventually did a small business selling soaps at the market. While she isn’t interested in continuing this as a money making endeavor, we still enjoy making soap and occasionally sell to friends and family.

It is my prayer that this new venture will allow me to exemplify Christ at work in my life, to help influence this current generation in the ways of keeping a home, to be a mentor to those who come my way, and to show the love of Christ to the world.
